The training, organized within the scope of the Technical Assistance for Türkiye in Horizon Europe Project, brought together the representatives of the Turkish Research Area, primarily those from Eskişehir’s R&D ecosystem, and shed light on both the technical and strategic aspects of proposal writing processes.
Held in cooperation with Anadolu Technology Research Park (ATAP) on 22 September 2025 at Eskişehir CORVELLE – EOSB Life Park, the “Horizon Europe General Introductory Training” began with opening remarks by Çağrı Yıldırım, Senior Representative of the End Recipient of the Technical Assistance for Türkiye in Horizon Europe Project, and Dr. Burcu B. Göğüş Doğan, Director of the Operations Coordination Unit. The training was delivered by Dr. Nikolaos Floratos with the participation of researchers and SMEs.
The training programme started with the session Horizon Europe Intelligence. It then continued with the sessions Understand the Full Proposal Development Cycle of a Horizon Europe Proposal (I.C.R.E.A.T.E.S. formula) and Impress the Evaluators (C.R.I.T.E.R.I.A. formula), where participants gained comprehensive knowledge about different stages of the proposal preparation process. Within the scope of the training, a clear overview was provided on the overall structure of the programme, its priority areas, and participation opportunities for Türkiye, with examples of which actors could be involved in which areas. Participants also learned how to map their way among clusters, destinations, and thematic areas in order to identify the most suitable call for their projects, and they received practical tips on consortium building.
The steps of the application process, the preparation of proposal documents, budgeting, and financial rules were addressed in a practice-oriented way, while the processes of reporting, consortium management, and communication with the European Commission during the implementation phase were also highlighted.
Designed with content compiled from European Commission literature, official templates, and thematic and practical insights from an evaluator’s perspective, the training is expected to contribute to strengthening Türkiye’s participation capacity in Horizon Europe and to enable participants to take a more active role in the European research and innovation landscape.
